I've been living minimally for 14 years now - the first three I didn't know it had a name. Living this way came on the heels of overwhelming grief and loss, and has been nothing less than a gift ever since. Loved this piece. Yes to it all.
I always know it when I read it the first time - that collection of the words somewhere among the mass you write that will hit hard and remain like a scar. This time they are: "I didn’t know it then, but that phone call started what would become the most confronting purge of my life. Not just of my stuff, though I did get rid of a truly humiliating number of hoodies, but of something heavier. Something quieter. The need to perform my life instead of live it."
Every time you write, i think it’s the best thing I’ve read.
"Living in a museum of emotional artifacts." That slammed into me like Mack truck.

This post Sparked Joy and I'm keeping it.
